Overview
Designed and developed a progressive web app and native mobile app for MIDF Invest’s online trading platform. The system handles portfolio management, real-time trade execution, and investment analytics — serving thousands of retail investors across Malaysia.
Our Approach
The platform required handling real-time market data, secure transaction processing, and complex portfolio analytics — all while maintaining an interface intuitive enough for retail investors. We started with extensive user research, mapping out the complete investor journey from account creation to trade execution. The UI/UX was designed around progressive disclosure: showing essential information upfront while keeping advanced features accessible without overwhelming new users. The architecture uses a modular component system that allows MIDF’s team to iterate on features independently. Both the PWA and native apps share a unified design language, ensuring a consistent experience whether investors access their portfolio from a desktop browser or mobile device.
Deliverables
Results
The platform launched to thousands of retail investors across Malaysia. The PWA approach meant zero friction for web users — no download required — while the native apps delivered push notifications for price alerts and trade confirmations. The portfolio dashboard became the most-used feature, with investors checking their holdings and P&L multiple times daily.
